About
A graduate of Communication Sciences and visual artist, I found my way into the art world by doing what came naturally: helping artists behind the scenes. I built websites, photographed artwork, and assisted with exhibitions. This practical work that taught me how to support creative people in ways that are both thoughtful and real.
For over a decade, I worked closely with artist Tom Wudl, managing his private instruction studio and supporting his painting practice. I now co-own the studio, which serves over 30 working artists here in Los Angeles.
I’ve worked with artists at every stage whether emerging, mid-career, or established and, I know how overwhelming the demands of the art world can be. I founded Creative Ally to offer the kind of clear, personalized support I kept seeing artists needed.
When I’m not working, I’m probably painting, camping, loving on my cats, or planning my next adventure. I live and work in Downtown LA.
I’m Monica Leal Cueva, an artist and creative consultant with over 12 years of experience helping artists make sense of their work, organize their careers, and feel more professional in how they show up in the world.

Beyond my work, little bit about me ☉
I work best with artists and creatives who are deeply committed to their work but feel the need for more clarity, structure, or support. Many of my clients have rich, creative lives and long histories of making, but little desire to navigate the digital, administrative, or promotional side of things alone.
Clarity not just in design, but in communication, structure, and intention.
Respect for each artist’s rhythm and voice.
Elegance and quality not as decoration, but as purposeful simplicity and, above all I value:
The creative process as complex, deeply human work behind every piece of art and, behind every effort we make to bring that art to the world.
I live with three cats Papo, Tita & Beibi who’ve turned my studio into a home. I’m happiest when the day starts quietly with a good breakfast and space to think. What I love the most to do is paint in the studio or go to remote places to explore and photograph.
My mind is always moving: curious, visual, full of ideas (sometimes too many).
I always travel with my camera, gouache paints, brushes, and watercolor paper just in case something calls to be made.
